The Little Things in Chronic Life

I love makeup, I’m not ashamed to admit it. I love skin care, bath & body products, purses and handbags. I loved them before my Chronic Migraine progressed to Daily and left me largely housebound. I love these things even more know, as they are a reminder of who I used to be. 

I used to be a teacher who wore full makeup every day (liquid eyeliner and the perfect lipstick were essentials). I had quite the handbag collection & at least one pair of shoes to match each one. I’d teach all day, study for my MA at night & still find time for a social life.

My life is different now. The daily pain & associated symptoms mean I’m lucky if I get out of the house once every week or two. My career is gone.

But there are some things I’m blessed with. My husband and my daughter stop me sinking without a trace. I have great parents and some old friends who never forget me, even though they see me so rarely.

I still have my voice. My YouTube channel is my outlet for the challenges of life with chronic pain. I’m starting this blog to post about the little things I love…also I’m just about managing one video a week but I can blog whilst being horizontal & looking like hell 🙂

So stay with me for beauty reviews, recommendations, nail ideas and other fun stuff….I have lost a lot through my condition, but my love of lipstick will never die!

  1. It’s so great that you’ve started a blog! I was a teacher too, but this chronic life has put a stop to that, but I’m hopeful I’ll be able to go back to it in some capacity in the future. We seem pretty similar, I love makeup too as they remind me of who I am despite chronic illness. Can’t wait to read more of your posts! Xx

    1. Thank you so much for your support Hun! I hope to reclaim some version of my career too one day. Have accepted that focus for now has to be trying new treatments & still being some kind of mother (and wife for that matter). But between this blog & my YouTube channel I’m clinging on to the things that make me, me. Thanks again xx

    1. Thank you! It’s helpful to have something I can do on my phone during the hours when I’m able to tolerate the light from screen but head isn’t ready for anything ambitious like standing up!

      1. I totally understand that. When I’m stuck in bed I either read on my kindle or do stuff on my phone (blog, twitter, Facebook).
